Lewis Hamilton facing jibes over his Britishness !!! When he lifts the titles he is reported very British...but on the way to winning, throughout the year his patriotism is questioned.
Why??? The usual questions are “but you live in Monaco....your accent isn’t totally British...your lifestyle travelling and fashion choices....” Firstly, most F1 drivers live in Monaco including the likes of our other former world champion Jenson Button. Was Jenson’s britishness ever questioned for living in Monaco?? Not a chance.
I will tell you why - because he looked similar, sounded similar, dressed similar & walked similar to the people who raise these questions of Hamilton.
The level of disrespect & racist undertones in questioning Hamilton’s Patriotism should not be underestimated.
He prepares diligently (Five world titles tells you that), has a working formula that works for him in his down time & after proving time and time again that his preparation for racing is perfect for him, even if it means flying in from LA where he was out and about then so be it.
Do I like all of the clothes Lewis Hamilton wears, the hairstyles, his music choices etc...maybe not but do I question his Britishness?? No, of course not because he is embracing young culture and experimenting like everyone does in his own way and we should be saying good luck to him I say.
If all these interests outside F1 were hindering his performances then I would get the questions on his lifestyle but he is breaking records and could well win his sixth world title this year!
If you can enjoy your life doing things YOUR WAY, AND WIN, then you are really really winning in life as a British sportsman - but don’t forget to talk very British, dress very British, and most importantly live in the UK otherwise there will be questions on your patriotism!
We should all celebrate a champion who is One Of Our Own! @ルイス・ハミルトン #F1

Couldn't have put it better myself!! I get absolutely pissed of trying to defend @lewishamilton all the time against ignorant, know nothing about F1, only repeat what falsely reported in the papers, hate filled experts!! I had a work colleague blasting Lewis about living in Monaco a few years ago! Despite the fact I could list where every driver on the grid at the time lived and non was at their home country but most in Monaco or Switzerland it made no difference they still slated Lewis but non of the other drivers!! He records are supposedly down to him having the best cars! When actually 2008, 2016 and 2017 the Ferrari's was regarded to be faster cars. But no one ever tries to belittle Schumacher's records or Vettels WDC's even though they were in far more superior machines and Senna who drove the greatest F1 car of all time the McLaren MP4/4. I say this as a white man but the truth is uncomfortably obvious the difference between Lewis and the rest of F1 is easy to see and no other driver in F1 has ever had to contend with the hate filled bile that comes from the British press and trolls!!

@lewishamilton......there are quite probably many, many more people out there who completely and unquestionably admire everything you’ve achieved. It is a very sad reflection though, that there is in Britain a wretched and regretful tendency - based entirely on paucity of thought - which perceives great success as failure, or certainly searches around desperately for reasons to justify trashing someone’s accomplishments. As you know, in the United States, they welcome with open arms those kinds of achievements and those who have reached that summit are understandably delighted. But neither do they overwhelm the cause with an overabundant flow of Knighthoods and cheap Awards which to this day still represent the long gone days of our dead Empire! Just never stop pursuing what it is that you love and are sublimely exceptional at!!

Lewis's is and always be 100-percent pure British. Absolutely makes no difference where the guy lives, he's fortunate enough with the job that he does and the money he earns to be able to choose where he wants to live in the world and the world is a big beautiful place. I certainly know if I had the money I wouldn't live in the UK all the time but it wouldn't make me any less British. When he's in this country and earns money in this country he pays his taxes. Let's face it we don't actually owe this country anything they give us nothing for free everything we achieve we earn. Just keep doing what you do Win races break records and win this next Championship???????????

Let's cut to the chase they don't have a lot bad to say write about Lewis so this is a way of saying what they really want to say. He's black and a winner and we don't like it. If he was white and winning the same way I am sure the write up would be different. The red bull boss Horner said Max is the best driver on the grid he only said that because Lewis is making all drivers look like they need to revisit their carting days. Since Trump got to power a lot of foolish white people think they have the right to talk rubbish oh yes they do!! But the good thing about all this not all white people think like the one who are questioning Lewis.

Look at Bradley Wiggins, wins 1 Tour De France and gets knighted, Andy Murray wins his first Wimbledon, gets knighted, Mo Farrah wins at the Olympics, gets Knighted, Chris Hoy wins at the olympics get knighted, Lewis Hamilton comes from nothing has a family that work their arses off to help him succeed in his journey to be what will go down in history as possibly THE GREATEST F1 DRIVER OF ALL TIME, annnnnddddd nada. It’s sickening, he is unquestionably the most dedicated athlete in any sport, he always has time for everyone without even a glimpse of distain on his face. He is British personified.

@mr_gaz Do you feel the same about Philip Green (BHS owner) too? "His businesses are registered under his wife’s name in the tax haven of Monaco, ensuring the millions of pounds he extracted from BHS were kept well away from Britain’s exchequer." Excerpt from The Guardian. As much as Lewis earns, it's nothing compared to how much Green should have PAID, in taxes. Oh, and he used that money to build himself a £150m super yacht, whilst his workforce toiled on poverty wages. And he got to keep his knighthood. I would focus my energy on people like this who are prepared to hurt others directly in the persuit of wealth.
