At the end of the day, you’ve either got to be on the side of the people or the side of the health insurance companies. I know what side I’m on; others will have to make their own choice. We must pass Medicare for All.

Bernie I like a lot of what you say. I also am liking Beto. For me the more important issues are healthcare, taxes, environment. Is there any way you can provide some educational formatted presentations that actually show how you would propose things will work in these areas? Many people jumped on Trump’s “I’m going to reduce your taxes “ bandwagon without actually understanding what was about to happen to them if they were the average what used to be “middle class family”. Trump will come up with more balderdash to win the next round. And all those voters out there too stupid to understand his lies will get to be surprised again. I just want voters to really understand things that will have a profound effect on them and their families for years to come, if not forever. If Bernie can explain and provide good solutions-great; if Beto, wonderful; if one of the other candidates, good let’s hear their solution. But Trump has shown me, as well as many others, that he’s a liar, a racist, a misogynist, and someone not intelligent enough to occupy the position of President of the United States of America.

@max99901 First I would take any facts provided, from a organization associated with Berkeley suspect. Secondly you clearly aren't associated in any field related to financial disciplines. You use a generic principle to decide government is cheaper? You provide me the exact breakout of Medicare costs, perhaps your right. Clearly with the federal government paying 25% more for similar private sector jobs makes that suspect. The inefficientcy, rarely ever firing unproductive employees also add to governments costs. What government agencies you know function better? The fraud in government dwarfs that of the private sector companies. Just this year another medicade fraud case in Florida was over a billion dollars. No Bernie and the Democrats never speak of it, no departments clean house. I wouldn't be surprised if 1/3 of the money spent isn't fraud.

@truth_for_america2 the well accepted for profit insurance overhead rate is 18-20%. Medicaid is less than 5%. For profit insurance companies have to pay multi million dollar salaries and enrich their shareholders. Medicaid for all clearly reduces overhead and puts healthcare dollars to work on actually treating patients. Feels like we are living on different planets. Please look at the data presented by the Kaiser family foundation. Also, your earlier assertion that 60% of people are on employer sponsored healthcare plans was an over estimation. Come to find out the nationwide average is only 49%. When you take into account the Indian health service, VA, Medicare, and Medicaid about 38% of the populace is already on a government healthcare plan.

@sarahollandauthor mortality rate isn’t exactly tied to quality of care. Self care is a big thing. We are by far the most obese country on the planet which greatly effects those numbers. So saying we have worse care because we are more obese isn’t objective. They wait times for scans and hospitals can range from hours to years in places like Canada. Another reason everybody but America can afford socialized healthcare is because they tax the hell out of their citizens and then spend most government spending on healthcare. We can’t do that here because we are the world police. Capitalism will always work better than socialism and that includes healthcare.

@max99901 Actually my company, was self insured, so they only paid the insurance company to administer the program. The government administration is always more expensive and less productive. The only reason Medicare has the appearance of providing healthcare cheaper. However because of the way government agencies are funded, that isn't always the case. You will never see the direct labor costs, equipment charges, overhead and other direct costs of providing the insurance. The only advantage they have is taking your money for almost free. Of course that has administrative costs funded under another government agency. ?

I don't understand why we don't have Healthcare for all. We are one of the most technologically advanced countries, one of the richest and one of the most educated countries as well. Why are people sick and dying just because they can't afford care? I've almost died twice because I couldn't afford my seizure meds. Luckily the ER docs stopped my seizures. I'm on ACA now, but if Republicans have their way, millions of us will lose that and die. Over half our budget is military. Do they need all that?
