That’s amazing that you saved their little lives! I saw your story and that you tried to help them yourself and I just wanted to give you a few pointers if it happens to you again.. especially here in Toronto where there aren’t too many sanctuaries (it would be quite a drive). Anyways.. keep them warm!! (Under a light is usually best) And if you want to feed them baby food with an eye dropper is the best way to do it when they’re that little. (BTW at that age they eat every 30 mins) And chances are they have mites from being in the nest so just be aware if you have any other animals.. hope this helps for next time if you can’t get them to a rehabilitation centre!

You’re so amazing for raising awareness! I did four summers as a wildlife rehab intern in college, and the number of people who try to raise them at home only to realise too late they aren’t equipped is heartbreaking. We need more people like you letting them know what their options are, because everyone only wants what is best for these little guys!!

I work at a Veterinary Clinic that rehabilitates wildlife.. if you find a bird that has fallen out of a nest that has feathers like this one and doesn’t appear to be injured in anyway, leave it! Most likely the mom is near by and will still care for the bird even if it’s on the ground. Also they may just be learning to fly!

We had to take three orphaned baby Mallards to them and they were fantastic! (With my kids in the backseat chanting “Can we keep them, can we keep them” and me replying “it’s illegal, we’ll be arrested” 🤣) They were also extremely helpful with advice after a baby hummingbird fell out of its nest in our front alcove.

We recently tried to do the same to a little one we found in upstate NY. Lasted two days in our care but ultimately didnt make it ? good to kno of such a place...i wonder if there is such a resource here locally.

Un bel gesto! A volte una chiamata per un animale ferito o disperso può fare la differenza tra la vita e la morte 🤗
