Retouching highlights while trying to avoid overlap👌

“This is an issue that I run into quite frequently. When a clients highlights grow out and we go to do a retouch, how do we make sure there is zero overlap of previously lightened hair? If we just weave and lighten the new growth, there would be inconsistencies throughout her ends.
To start, I look at my section and locate where her old highlights are and I weave out all the dark pieces. PRO TIP: I actually flip the hair upwards to see the underneath and pull out any blonde strands I may have missed. After lightening the remaining darkness from her roots to her mids, I weave AGAIN at her ends where she has old highlights”

Lol, I have to assume that this is slowed down to show the detail of the technique, because seriously, this would take all day. Also, with such fine sections and weaving, an actual retouch of the roots would still be gentle and blended without spending a thousand years without all these extra steps. Just saying. Sometimes all the extra effort is just wasted time and doesn’t change the result. Work smarter, not harder. ?

I swear I never usually comment on anything and I ain’t trying to hate but I swear stylists these days just post old basic techniques everyone knows about and just over complicate it to make it sound like they invented it. They just showing off their manicures now. ?

That’s called all one color eventually.. not a retouch. Can we stop trying to act like we are reinventing the wheel.. it’s not difficult you weave out blonde and touch up only root... ?
