#InspiredByTheEast will showcase how art from the Islamic world, especially the Middle East and North Africa, influenced artists and craftspeople from Europe and North America.

The first image shows a 17th-century ceramic plate made in Iznik, Turkey – a centre for high-quality pottery production for centuries. The distinctive floral designs were also popular on tiles that decorated the inside of buildings during the Ottoman period (c.14th – 20th century). The second image shows tiles made by English designer William De Morgan in the 19th century. He was influenced by Middle Eastern ceramics and designs, creating floral motifs that appeared in fashionable ceramics, stained glass and furnishings.

Geometric art in symmetry was also common in tile work and architectural decoration, specifically from Turkey, Persia and the Mughal Art in India. The design of tiles shown here, influenced by this art is beautiful ! A great post !!!
