This month is Nikon Ambassador @MatthewJordanSmith and a portrait shot with the Nikon Z 7, Mount Adapter FTZ and AF-S NIKKOR 105mm f/1.4E ED. Here's how he created this stunning shot, from ideation to execution: “For this image I wanted to create something that felt classic but modern at the same time. My subject, Shonda, has a look that takes you back in time and I thought it would be wonderful to photograph her in B&W (Monochrome mode) and shoot wide open at f/1.4. This created a dreamy look because of the shallow depth of field and brings out the best in a subject, in this case, her eyes. She is a natural in front of the camera and came to life in a matter of moments. This image was shot in Las Vegas during CES when I had little time, so we set up a time to shoot of just one hour. We'd discussed the idea before the shoot so we knew what we were going for and with the time crunch we went right to work and captured this image in less time that we'd planned for. The inspiration for this image came from doing research for another assignment. I was watching an old Japanese movie shot in Black & White but the scenes are out of this world visually. When I spoke with Shonda about shooting I'd just finished watching, so these beautiful scenes were fresh in my mind.
