Here’s a mock up design for our billboard campaign to educate the public in West Michigan about the facts about declawing.
What do you think?
Most veterinarians in this area make easy and good money declawing cats and they deceive the public to think that this inhumane amputation procedure is ok.
Most cat owners in this area think that if their declawed cats appear to be ok and live many years, then they are ok, but this is far from the truth.
They don't want to accept the facts about declawing because then it will mean they've been wrong and don't want to think they've harmed their beloved cats.
It is disturbing and sad to hear about so many innocent cats who are having this barbaric amputation procedure done to them because of the lack of education about the FACTS about declawing and about the easy, humane alternatives.
Join us and send us your billboard ideas.
If we use them, we will send you some City the Kitty items. (Winners must be in the U.S. for shipping purposes.) citythekitty@gmail.com

For someone who doesn’t know what actually happens during a declaw and is only listening to what their vet tells them, the reaction will likely be the same as when they see a dog with a cone/e-collar around the dog’s neck... “awww that poor baby.” A photo of amputated claws would be a clearer and very accurate message. I’d hesitate putting an extreme picture of a declawed cat that had complications (like the cats from Oakland) only because a vet would say “oh, that vet didn’t know what they were doing” or “the pet owner didn’t follow post-surgery instructions.” A picture of a declawed cat who had complications from a Michigan vet might be received better.

The billboard idea is fantastic! It will also make a lot of people who make money from declaw surgeries angry. If it’s possible, I would explore putting cameras on and around the billboard as someone could spray paint over it. A trail camera with cell phone connection might be ideal. It would text a photo to you when the camera is triggered. A trail camera can be stolen, but you’d already have a photo of the person.

declawing a cat is not bad if it helps the cat and the owner to have a better life then its not bad. people who say it is probaly never had a cat like yours or a cat that has a clawing problem and when i mean yours i dont mean it a bad way. so the people thats getting thereselves worked up in a bad way over this can go fuck themselves

What's the "hahaha" caption under the photo? If I saw this and knew nothing about declawing and amputation being the same thing, I'd think this was a laugh at the idea. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of a billboard and I an so very against declawing. Just saying at a first glance the "hahaha" really stood out to me.

You really need to share the names of the ppl that post these awful pictures. If only u tell them it's wrong, they'll think you're crazy or have an agenda. You need more ppl to back u up. That's why petitions get signatures, u don't just have 1 person write a letter telling a company they're wrong.
