My favorite Edgar Martinez moment happened October 7, 1995 when I was just 4 years old. Edgar was up with the bases loaded in a tie game and hit a fastball straight deep center. I will always remember the late great Dave Niehaus and his infamous "get out the rye bread and the mustard this time grandma it's a grand salami!" Edgar fist pumping around the bases for his second home run of the game!Edgar Martinez was my first hero besides my dad. My dad always told me to look up to people like Edgar Martinez, a man of great character on and more importantly off the field. Every time I grabbed a bat even to this day I emulate Edgar and his mighty batting stance. My dad passed away 3 years ago and he would have done anything for us to witness Edgar and the special moment with his fans. My oh my! ⚾⚾⚾⚾ #gomariners

I will never forget Edgar’s final night game at safeco field; where they teased Edgar at third base for warm ups then took him out. The after game ceremonies were special with Bud Selig naming the Designated Hitter award after Edgar, the naming of Edgar Martinez drive. Finally taking a lap around the track of safeco field hi fiving the fans hands, including mine, this memory will always be why Edgar is and will be my favorite player.

When I was a kid, my grandma worked on a horse farm. Russ Davis has horses there and brought Edgar with him. I was only 7 but I remember him being the nicest guy. I met him several times after that and always left the impression of a hard working, good man. My favorite thing about Edgar is that he was a super star baseball player but remained dedicated to Seattle and always humble.

The double. hands down. Worst moment is learning my mom got tickets to watch a mariners game in one of the suites with gar and didnt know who he was....or really what baseball was.... but sure enough she has a signed ball and photo with him at work now....but she loved him as a human if not a ball player..she said he was so nice. So i guess its not the worst.

1995. I am a nurse and was taking care of patients at UW. Almost all of the patients had that Yankee series on their TV. The fist pump after the homer; the double; bringing them back to win after losing in NY, I will never forget it! Patients, families, the doctors and nurses were all so excited. Brought some fun to lighten up the hospital!

“Line down the left field line for a base hit, here comes Joey, here’s junior to third base, they’re going to wave him in, the throw to the plate will be late, the Mariners are going to play for the American League championship. I don’t believe it, it just continues... my oh my!!” Obviously ??
