Not even seven years after President John F. Kennedy’s directive to go to the Moon, the Saturn V rocket was rolled out for the momentous journey and spectators gathered on nearby beaches to watch the Apollo 11 launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16, 1969.

Impressive and fascinating program. Seeing one of the three remaining Saturn V launch vehicles is astonishing. The three remaining were built for Apollo 18,19, 20. But due to budget cuts the vehicles never flew. The only time another Saturn V flew was for Skylab

I can’t stop looking at this pic. It’s so cool, I’ve seen the assembly building from afar a few times but I never realized the rockets came out of it upright. So amazing.

Imagine when people *actually* landed on the Moon but it wasn't special because according to the public it was already done

My father worked for the Kennedy space center for over 20 years. I remember taking field trips in the VAB ~ so awesome ??
