MY BOYFRIEND’S BACK! When the trailer for @jayandsilentbob Reboot dropped (link in my bio), folks found out a few of our secrets - one of the biggest being that @ベン・アフレック is back as Holden McNeil! The co-creator of #bluntmanandchronic and friend of #jayandsilentbob plays a crucial role in the Reboot and his scene is one of the best bits of cinema I’ve ever been involved with: it’s absolutely magical and life-affirming and all the things I really care about now, post-heart attack. But when we started shooting the movie, the scene didn’t exist. This scene - and more importantly, my reunion with a guy who I’ve missed terribly for nearly a decade - only happened because of @kevinmccarthytv. Kev interviewed Ben for his @ネットフリックス movie #triplefrontier and kicked off by asking Ben “Did they call you for Reboot yet?” And Ben said no, but he was available. So producer @jordanmonsanto said “Call Ben.” I told her “That’s just some nice shit to say at a junket. He wasn’t serious.” A week later, Jordan, @jaymewes and @jenschwalbach we’re all pressing me to reach out to Ben, so I finally did. I was scared to be rejected, but I texted him “To paraphrase the sad old King Osric in CONAN THE BARBARIAN? ‘There comes a time when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a director’s love for the people he used to make pretend with.’” And after a long beat of wondering how he’d receive this, my estranged friend wrote back as only he could: “Of course you still liken yourself to a king,” he joked. And then “Would be a pleasure to see you again, Old Man.” So naturally, weepy me - who breaks down emotionally during comic book flicks - was a blubbery mess. Not only did we score an amazing scene for the flick, but I also got my friend back - all because of entertainment journalism. Dear Kevin Smith, after watching the interviews you did about getting Affleck back as your friend and movie friend I couldn’t help but come to crippling tears. I have grown up with you and these characters and know them as friends, I have followed these stories from the entire view askew universe and they have truly shaped me into who I am and the humor I posses. From your movies, to the podcast like jay and silent bob get old and others like Tell em steve Dave it’s gotten me through the darkest times in my life, through miscarriages, loss of very close loved ones, and even my battle with drug addiction. Seeing you rekindle with Ben gives me the hope that life always pans out just not when you want it to but when the timing is always right. I have laughed, cried, and rewatched and entire movie from the beginning multiple times because of how much I love this universe. I just want to say thank you for what you do, I have heard you in interviews joke about your work being dopey sometimes or that people should take it serious, but even skeevy stoners who fart like myself look at these movies as guides to get us through hard times with laughter. Some people have have Belushi, Candy, Farley, but I have Kevin Smith.. thank you and I love you sir

In 95 I was 15 and practically living at the mall in Paramus. Then some friend told me that a dude from Central Jersey made a movie called Mallrats about kids that hang out at the mall and so funny shit. These kids loved comics. I was sold. Here we are 24 years later and seeing these three goofy old faces together again took me right back to that diner scene in Chasing Amy. So happy seeing this and it choked me up too. Because both Kevin and Ben are rebuilding themselves. Like many of us are. So here I am at 40 smiling and feeling like taking a trip to the mall and maybe throwing a CD in on the way. #90skids #Mallrats #viewaskew

I don’t normally watch trailers because I want to watch the movie without knowing anything about it... but I had to make an exception for this one and decided I would only watch the first 30 seconds and it was the best 30 seconds ever! Amazing, can’t wait to watch the whole masterpiece!

So the plot: Ben bought the rights to blunt man and cronic back and rebooting the movie from 2004. So Jay and Silent Bob return back to their old roots and try to prevent the movie being premiered. Tons of “impractical jokes” (lol pun) and movie reference from the 2004 movie.

My jaw actually dropped when I saw him in the trailer. I had to watch it 3 times just because of that moment. Thank you @BenAffleck It's been weird without you (even though I know there have been no Viewaskewniverse movies since CLERKS 2)
