jessica_calcagni Medicare is not an effective option as it is set up now to provide access to mental health care. Medicare needs to cover more mental health providers (LPCs and LMFTs not just PhDs and LCSWs) and addiction treatment centers (ie residential and medication assisted treatment). As it is set up now, it is not created around preventative care and patients instead wait to be hospitalized.

johnplayden If they started taking a small percentage out of everyone’s weekly paychecks, starting at 18 for medical insurance, it would be like the social security fund, they should save both of them, well, if they had a fund for medical care and insurance, two important topics. Young people might complain but everyone gets sick and old and it would benefit All Americans.

vhsyaf But at least with private insurance if u don't like it I can cut it or change companies. You want to force everyone to pay for it through significant tax hikes. The government shouldn't have a role in how to choose my health insurance
