@theopen @royalportrush has solidified and proven my belief “Golf Diplomacy” works. I instill this philosophy wherever I travel the world today growing the game and it has been no more evident in the years of preparation to host The Open this year. Northern Ireland and the Republic have endured much for decades but what resonates the loudest above politics, religion and geopolitical angst, golf, for over a century has torn down barriers and brought people together. So, as the weekend plays out to find who will be The Champion Golfer of the year, let’s congratulate all involved who got us there @royal_ancient @ローリー・マキロイ @Graeme_McDowell @シェーン・ローリー @DarrenClarke60 @Fehertwit and the capacious support the people of Ireland, who lead the charge. I will continue to use “Golf Diplomacy” no matter where I travel to grow the game, as golf is the global equalizer. I for one, as a Champion Golfer, am proud of what I am witnessing taking place this week.

Greg, as the son of a Protestant father and Catholic mother, who felt it necessary to abandon the north of Ireland in 1956, for Canada, it does all of us a world of good to see the progress in this jurisdiction. It isn’t perfect, and nowhere is, but the Open at Portrush is pushing positive progress past the point of no return. What a thrill.

Well said @shark_gregnorman your a legend of the game someone and I certainly look up to you. All the meltdowns you had in majors and the ability to come back and bouncing back, against all odds, is what made you. One my favourite golfers of all time! Glad to see the open back in Ireland!
