Besides the very specials parures in diamonds and precious stones used only for formal occasions, Empress Joséphine had many "day" sets in coloured gemstones. Typical of the style of the time, this ensemble from circa 1810 alternates palmettes in pearls with finely chased gold and malachite cameos of Greek gods.
