“Models generally have much more of a voice than they did 20 or even 10 years ago. I think it has a lot to do with Instagram and with people finally getting to know who models are. In a magazine you can’t get to know who a model is: they are wearing someone else’s clothes, someone else was the art director, someone else took the pictures. It’s a creative job, but it’s generally other people’s creativity, not the model’s. mwarren57 Modeling is a Performing Art. I hope models don’t get uncomfortable with that idea when Agents and Clients and Advisors tell models that they are their own “product,” and should market themselves as “genuine.” Is any performer “genuine” during their work? Do we judge an actor or singer or comedian etc for not being their “genuine”, private selves? Nope! You are more than your work and job! What is private belongs to you, to share with who you choose. Clients, Agencies, Designers, Fans have no rights to “who you really are” blah blah blah! Models are hyper-commercialized, marketed, sold to people. This is neither necessary or right or required...it is laziness (and Thrifty!!!) on the part of these people. Time for a change, I would say. Would you and your friends really disagree if so many people could NOT penalize you for being Performing Artists called Models and not 24/7 commodities they earn considerably good livings off of your sacrifices? JMHO...but ask your friends in the Modeling Community what they think of this approach to their Art!!!!

jmazz1 Models, fisherman, waiters and garbage men are all just people. I follow all kinds because I’m interested in people. I think all people have a voice now because of social media.
