Farewell to this magical place ✨💐
It was a dream to be on the islands for a while and now I’m headed home to start back on treatment for Lyme Disease. It’s always an uphill battle. I travel and then pay the price for it after. A good analogy would be the “spoon theory” if anyone knows of it.
The spoon theory is a way of describing the experience of chronic illness and its limitations using a metaphor. It was created by Christine Miserandino, who has lupus, an invisible illness which causes chronic fatigue, chronic pain and many other symptoms that limit her energy levels and ability to do everyday things.
I wish more people understood chronic illness, but I don’t think a fully healthy person ever truly does.
Thank you for a memorable trip Cook Islands.
You’ll always be my favorite.

I’ve had Lyme Disease for 8+ years. I’ve done every type of treatment under the sun and felt like I was doing pretty good once I was pregnant...but when my baby was 8 months old, my husband unexpectedly died and it rocked my world and made me come crashing back down. It’s been kind of up and down since then. The year he died, Ally Hilfiger invited me to the global alliance gala and it was almost relieving to meet so many battling the same illness. Often I felt kind of alone and nobody really understood why I had good days and bad days...if you’ve never lived with it, I don’t think you can fully understand the pain we go through. Anyway, I just wrote a novel haha. But just wanted to thank you for being so open about your illness...it’s going to help many people. 💗

Just saw your stories, why on earth do you have to take so much medication? I counted 18 bottles and that wasn't even what was in your suitcase!!
