It was earth shattering to see first hand and learn even more about these evil fish farms.
130 fish farms on Vancouver Island? Hidden,
Tucked into beautiful coves - Destroying the migration paths of wild salmon -
Death traps.
These fish would make it to the #orcas other wise -
It’s a ‘ghost town” out there.
Where I used to be able to see fish jumping. It was quiet.
Not many birds. I’m in shock.
It feels like the Canadian version of Fukoshima - these fish who are trapped in pens have viruses, big lesions on them.
They are sprayed with bleach and fed kibble (like dog food) every 5 minutes to get them as big as possible as fast as possible.
Full grown in 18 months?
It’s sick
and it’s surely all over your sushi -
Don’t eat this.
Don’t contribute to these greedy companies trespassing on 1st nations territories.

This must stop.
Or Orcas will starve
and the natural world we enjoy (and can thrive in) will be gone for our children.
Fish farms are a disgrace.
I saw millions of tiny wild salmon trapped in the pens
that will be used as fish food for the diseased fish.
I’m heart broken.
And will not stop
till this cruel practice ends.
I feel bad for the fish in pens too swimming in circles with 50,000 other fish.
For what?
For consumption to make it easy?
All is lost.
There is no regulation.
30 years allowed to destroy all
In it’s path.
Fish were plentiful 30 years ago.
The big difference
is #fishfarms (given subsidies?, free waste disposal?) Many issues -
From the unprotected herring spawning grounds. (Now down to only one place on Hornby island )
to the salmon
to the orcas. I will fight till this ends.
These companies aren’t even Canadian?
And they employ 3 men per fish farm or less? . We can find you other work ! At minimum wage -
there is a lot of work on the island.
I see “help wanted” signs every where.

purpleequus Pamela, thank you for posting this. I did not know this. I am a Japanese who hate animal abusing and lived in Courtenay when I was teenager. That Island is my second home town.It is heartbreaking to hear something like this is happening in there. So unfair to the other animals. Pls keep up for them!! I recently had such a nice breakfast in ladysmith when I was in Canada for a vist!! Beautiful mind comes from beautiful place;))

shelovesrotts Ask the local First Nations their opinion on fish farms you may get more insight and the problematic seals and sea lions growing numbers taking away wild salmon from the Orcas!

rebeccawraithmindbodycoach Definately people cutting down on fish and animal products is the way forward. Or go and catch your own fish. Mass production is horrific and so much goes to waste too 😢😡👊
