I maintained my spot on the World team & was 100% on the defensive with the goal of doing JUST enough to keep that spot & every attempt we took (& didn’t take) reflected that. It’s all a numbers game. We decided Thursday night to pull the trigger & come here after having to rush coming back from my Pan Ams injury by a couple months. Was I in great shape? Heeelllllllll nah, I have not touched anything I attempted on the platform. Which plays a huge part in the mental aspect of competing. Am I alive and well and no more injured now than I was before today? Helllllllllll yeah. Do or die meets like this are extremely stressful, scary and a lot to handle and no one can understand that unless you’re involved. I have the upmost respect for the rest of you team USA athletes that keep going through these as well. We fight not because we always want to, but because we have to if we want the opportunity to even go to the bigger meets. And if there’s anything I’m good at, it’s fighting regardless of how I feel.
