with.wandering.steps @dianexguerrero Six years ago I started volunteering as a trainee doctor for the illegal immigrants arriving in Europe across the sea. It was a shock, but in the years I was forgetting those terrible emotions I was feeling witnessing their scars, genital mutilations, rape pregnancies, ptsd, terrible vitamine lacks. You and @oitnb seriously dropped emotional bombs in this last season. For personal reasons, in the past weeks I was passing through a bit, but I was able to cry. You made me ugly cry, I swear. I remembered your interviews about your past, I remembered those people, dehydrated, scared, full of broken hopes, in the detenction centre. At least we try to be more human than Mr. Trump, but it's becoming such a nightmare here... Since the populists rised in Europe, there's people publicly celebrating on Facebook the drowning of these people. And than there was your acting. Your dignity. I can imagine it had to be hard to feel again bad feelings... But it's such a relief to see there's still someone able to do that. I was a fan before, now I'm a huge one. With love, Aurora

strawburry_gurl I’m a law student interning at the @americanbarassociation Commission on Immigration, one of the only national detainee hotlines that functions like the one run by @migrantfreedom. It’s an incredible experience and I’ve learned so much from the men and women on the other side of the phone, who often have no hope or support. But they are determined. Many of them become some of the most amazing jailhouse lawyers I’ve ever seen! PSA: if you know ANYONE who is at risk of detainment by ICE make them MEMORIZE the number 2150#. It is a free line they can call from detention to this hotline. An incredible team waits for them on the other side of that line who will do their best to help... and at the very least listen to their story with compassion. @maria.bacarella @mpeckably.yours @blackcatinyourbed

_los_g_ Not only did it portray what happens at these detention centers, but also portrayed the shitty truth about some of these parents that bring their kids here at young ages. Look how all her life Marizta thought she was a US born citizen, then her mom reveals she wasn’t. Too many parents brought their kids here and never did shit to start the process to secure their future as citizens. Now a lot of these present day adults, within that same age bracket, are fucked and getting sent to a country they more than likely know nothing of. Granted that at the age of 18 they can take over to complete the citizenship process, but how if they didn’t even know in the first place. Fucked up on the parents if you ask me.

dr_alexpadilla @dianexguerrero I came across your LA Times opinion. Great piece illustrating why our immigration system is broken & why people come to the US without having been authorized by the government to come. They don’t have time to wait for some pencil pusher to decide they can come or not. More often than less is a matter of life or death! They are trying to make a better life for themselves and their families!

adrii_lokbik I was legit in my feelings so hard cause of this episode. Thank you for shedding more light. Im colombian too and im glad im in canada now but at some point my family and i were illegal in the USA and this could have been us. My heart goes out to everyone in the USA and those detained by ICE. 😭😭😭💕💕💕
