Yesterday, The Duke of Gloucester visited Bristol, where he presented two local organisations with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – an honour given to outstanding volunteer groups across the UK. 🏅 The Move Makers of Southmead Hospital are a team of volunteers who help patients and visitors to the hospital by helping with directions, checking in for appointments and providing general support to make their visit as pleasant as possible. 🏅@TheMatthewShip’s volunteers in Bristol’s Floating Harbour help ensure that the public have free access to the ship - a modern replica of one that sailed from Bristol in 1497 and discovered Newfoundland and is free to visit. 🏅The Duke of Gloucester also visited the ‘Being Brunel’ exhibition at the @SSGreatBritain, where he met Visitor Experience Assistant Ryan Saunders, who was nominated as a VisitEngland Tourism Superstar for 2019. The Duke learnt how Ryan, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s aged seven, has developed his confidence and customer service skills through working as part of the team on board the SS Great Britain.
