@eastcoastcurmudgeon GIRL, general female nudity vs male nudity is not the conversation here – the conversation that YOU started, so those statistics are irrelevant. i’m not arguing that there isn’t more female driven nudity material, and neither were you in your original post. i commented back saying not all is the same. there’s a difference between porn, sexual content, art, and athleticism. she’s an athlete, this is art. you are not allowing any room for nuance between all these things. you came out of your way to her page to tell her that she shouldn’t do material with nudity and accuse her of contributing to an overly sexualized culture for young women, in your opinion. if you think women should be treated equally (and are not, like you said!!!), then stop going out of your way to comment on a woman’s instagram and police her body. haven’t seen you commented on any men’s instagrams, and there are plenty of dudes posting spicy photos out there!! would consider you to think about this.

@jules_b.b yes thank you, this was what I was trying to say earlier. It’s not that I’m disgusted by this cover BUT when a woman wants to express freedom, pride, accomplishment, health, confidence, etc, there always seems to be nudity involved these days. I understand they may not be forced to do so but just the fact that we are constantly seeing it, and only from women, shows how the industry encourages, pressures, and even at time manipulates women to go nude. I’m not saying all women are pressured or manipulated, some really want to do it. But the fact that we only see it from women shows how the industry is working and how it truly treats women. Men aren’t asked or encouraged to do these cover shoots. The amount of male nudity vs female nudity in films is a big difference. It’s not about being anti nude, I just wish there wasn’t so much of it. Would love to see some women spread these messages without nudity.

I love you Julianne but I just feel everything you are trying to convey, all your growth and spirituality....can be done with clothes on. I know it's about shedding boundaries and inhibitions, but again, so much more beautiful, so much more classy...with clothes on. Only my opinion and not hating on you. Today I was scrolling on Instragram with my 8 year old granddaughter and she saw your pic. She is a big fan since DWTS and now AGT. She asked why you are naked. I really didn't know what to say....then she said, "well she always likes to wear clothes with her boobies out. When I grow up I don't think I would like to do that even if I do look like her and dance." It's all in the perception. I guess no more scrolling thru Instagram...lol. You are gorgeous and really and never never have to try that hard because you are just as beautiful, if not more so, with clothes on.

@eastcoastcurmudgeon women’s bodies don’t discount them from being respectable. she’s not a hollywood socialite, she’s an athlete – her body is her career. she’s not “showing skin” to make it big, she IS big and is making an empowered decision about what she wants to do with her body – which if that’s the message that all the young women you mentioned are picking up, i’m all for it. i see photos of male athletes on health and fitness magazines with every crevasse and muscle exposed and shorts pulled down so low that you can almost see their privates, whereas this photo has those areas gracefully covered. people like y’all just need to admit that you have different rules for how you think women, especially female athletes, should show their bodies than men. stop trying to argue that it’s ANYTHING but that.

Julianne, love your story. You are one of the most beautiful and talented women in world and I love following your adventures. You have really peeled the layers from your life and exposed them to the world which can't be easy but it was a good thing for you.....however, there is one thing about your story that bothers me and that is that you waited to ask your husband after you are married if he knew that you aren't straight. That is very selfish. You should of told him prior to marriage....yeah you chose him but had he known the truth maybe he wouldn't have chosen you but you did not give him a choice. That one thing that you think is so brave is truly disappointing.
