It makes me sad. I feel silence and blindness and not a little bit of madness. It's where they've put us again. It's where we are again after our climbing, after our rise. Back on the bottom. It's where they've put us again. In the dark again.

I think it's artistically useful, because it elucidates the multiple ways that we find ourselves curtailed: our speech, our perspective, and our sexual and reproductive selves. The multifaceted nature of sexism is not always obvious.

Represents repression of feminine power due to not speaking one’s deepest truth, possibly bc of the internalization of media’s images of the flesh and society’s expectations of women’s compliance.

It reminds me of my ex & his mother, suffocating, suppressive and restrictive - I had a physical reaction to seeing this like I couldn’t breath again, like the night he choked me.

Well , whatever the intended message. I don’t want it on my wall and I wouldn’t stop or pay to see it in a gallery. And since you asked I find it unnecessarily disturbing.

So very many people need to be soothed, and we need to do more to soothe them. Art can and should do this, and it always upsets me when art is jarring or disturbing.
