All you’re doing is giving people that are afraid of or offended by your voice, more of one to express themselves with instead. Not okay. What happened in El Paso is not only awful and unspeakable, but it’s also the new normal. This was domestic terrorism stoked and influenced by the daily hateful and irresponsible rhetoric. You can’t argue it. You can’t deny it. It was written in the shooter’s manifesto. And sadly, we won’t be thinking of this tmrw or shortly after, because there will probably be another one to take it’s place ((***EDITED as i got ready to post this pre-written draft this am, i woke up to another mass shooting in Dayton, OH with over 10 people dead***)). I’ve been around this great country long enough to remember when this wasn’t the norm, and we aren’t doing anything to stop it. Instead we just politicize and attack immediately or blame it on video games and mental health.. That is only the tip of this melting iceberg, my friend.. This was posted by @brandicarlile today, and as a gun collector, shooter, and enthusiast myself, i couldn’t agree more (Swipe to read it all). At the end of the day, i just want people to have a civil conversation. It’s not gonna happen in the comments section on a social media post (therefore COMMENTS OFF). I don’t need people fighting with Russian bots posting “MAGA 2020” bullshit (sadly that’s what happens every time). That is counterproductive. For the record, I am neither straight up Democrat or Republican. I find way too many flaws in both. But we have a current administration that needs to do something about this because they’re in charge right now. Money is a powerful drug and when it comes with a price of innocent lives being taken daily, we have to consider rehab for some of these donation takers that are squandering any sort of reform. And hey, I’m just as guilty of getting emotional about things and going off online, but we gotta put the keyboards and phones down and talk to people FOR REAL.
