When I went to bed last night I heard about the deadly shooting in my home state of Texas in El Paso. I prayed that night for the families of the victims, I held my son a little tighter, I called my mom to say be careful because she goes to Walmart about 3 times a week. Then I woke up to read about another deadly shooting in Dayton, OH. My heart broke again but my outrage is exhausted. I can’t post “thoughts and prayers” one more time. We have to #endgunviolence now. We have to hold our lawmakers accountable for their INACTION. Any public servant (like the gov of TX) who says now is not the time to talk policy is probably taking money from the NRA. When is the time for common sense gun laws? When is the time to end this senseless, heartless violence towards humanity? When is the time to make our schools, parks, concerts, churches, malls or movie theaters safe? Sorry politicians, is this not a good time? Well how about Election Day, is that a good time? Because we will vote all of you out for your inability to take a stand and end gun violence. What if that victim was your mother, daughter, husband, wife, son, father, friend, neighbor, classmate, family member? Would you listen then? Time to take action NOW! Tomorrow is too late.

@2amazingkids72 the whole guns will always be available to criminals trope is so dumb. Obviously we all know criminals do not follow laws. We aren’t saying if we have common sense gun laws that criminals will stop being criminals. We are not naive. What we are saying is that if access to guns is more difficult then guess what, it’s more difficult for criminals too. The majority of mass shootings and gun related deaths are committed with LEGALLY purchased guns. Because it is that easy in this country to get one. Most of the mass shooters would not have the resources or contacts to get the kind of high capacity assault weapons they used if they were made illegal. There is also an excellent study done in Chicago after stricter gun laws were enacted, gun violence went down! Then guess what...because of weak gun laws in neighboring states, gun violence increased again and gun violence by legally purchased weapons resumed....but the majority of those weapons were purchased in other states. If we had universal background checks in this country that would not happen. Also, there is no need for high capacity weapons among civilians. The Dayton shooter killed 9 people in under one minute. The second amendment was created back when our founding fathers had muskets that took like 20 seconds to reload. Not 20 seconds to kill multiple people. They would be ashamed of us now abusing the second amendment the way we do. No one is saying you have to get rid of your gun as a law abiding citizen. What we want is common sense gun reform. One of the victims from this weekend was a mother of three who died shielding her 2 month old son. As a mom to “2 amazing kids” per your handle, doesn’t that affect you a little? If we could save some lives isn’t it worth trying???

Venezuelans and europeans are wishing they hadn't given up their guns. The only common sense is for everyone to.be able to defend themselves. These idiots don't shoot up places where they know people will shoot back. They choose easy targets with helpless victims. The NRA is full of responsible, law abiding gun owners. You are the anti gun lobby. In the UK people are being jailed for words. There freedom of speech is gone because their guns are gone. Wake up and stop swallowing this Hollywood commie bs. Start confiscating cars because they kill way more people than guns. If you are not part of the anti car movement you are a hypocrite. Your argument is weak. If you want to save lives, end abortion. If it saved just one child you would ban guns...stand up as pro life then. If not you again are a hypocrite.

I’m sorry but the gun culture is too deep rooted into American mentality, culture, etc.. Ofc politicians are a problem but the biggest problem is your average citizens who unfortunately defend their “right” to own a gun and see nothing bad in it. No other first world country has that mentality where growing up in a house where there’s a gun in the cupboard is normal. So I’m afraid that changing the government won’t change much , majority of americans are standing up for guns , you guys unfortunately are an exception ..sad really.

Taking guns from law abiding citizens wont solve anything. There are far more guns without serial numbers illegally floating around america than there are legally registered guns. Taking guns away will only increase the amount of victims. I just pray our politicians and uneducated americans wake up and try to find real solutions to this problem and stop listening to stupid celebritys

I loved loved loved the way you addressed your feelings about the representation of yourself as a Latina and your community on @thedailyshow . To be Mexican American is a difficult understanding the the rest of Americans! Because we do not abandon our culture but rather intertwine the two! Keep using your voice and platform. We hear you and the voice is getting louder! 💕

We need to invest money in mental health! I am a nurse and psychiatrists are like celebrities in health care. It is hard to get a hold on them. People do not get proper diagnosis and we have all those people with mental issues all around us. We need a change depression, bipolar disorders and psicopatas need to be identified at early age!
