Maybe it would be wise to implement a bi-yearly nationwide educational requirement for those who want to gain access to national parks. Similar to the educational videos we are required to watch before obtaining backcountry wilderness permits. Instead of spending more resources picking up trash and on other reactive measures, we should focus on preventative measures and targeting the problem at its root. Education is often the most effective way to create positive change.

Great way to bringing attention to this critical issue where we all fall guilty of in same way shape or form and for which we should reconsider the true meaning of wanting to travel and visit national parks and enjoying photography for our own reason and not just for social media. It’s time to think about what we ARE doing and enjoy these places responsibly 🙌🏼👍🏽

Love the important questions discussed in the video. I’d love to learn more about what we can do on an individual level to help educate others (with kindness and compassion). Maybe something to cover in a future episode? Great job @erinoutdoors!

Working in the tourism industry, we talk about this issue a lot and how we can promote safe/responsible visitation. Thanks for putting together this video to talk more on the issue! 👏🏼

It just means you have to get deeper into the backcountry to avoid the narcissists. Avoid the tourist trails and tourist overlooks and it’s not as big of a deal.
