Leaving the White House for his trip to Dayton and El Paso Wednesday, President Trump couldn’t resist a detour to politics, lambasting critics of his response to two mass shootings as “political people” who are “very low in the polls.” The Democrats seeking to replace him sought to draw a sharp contrast to that kind of moment as the nation still reeled from the latest violence, revealing differences in their own approaches as they struck back at the president. blutus_maximus Trump supporters of all ages, sizes, colors, creeds: I ask you, not as a political party affiliate, but as a human being, can you answer the following honestly: Yes, we all make mistakes, but does he own up to his mistakes or does he cover them up, or worse, scapegoat he way out blame? Would you let this man speak to your mother or grandmother the way he speaks about women in general? Would you trust him around your daughters? Do you have any perspective on actual race relations or do you assume the worst about every other race outside of your own? And how does this inform your view of what he inspires? Is he dividing or uniting the country and how? Would he encourage and support your personal endeavors or focus on what makes him look good? Should he build a wall as a monolith to himself or use resources work on the relationships we have across borders instead of isolating us? Do you really think he cares about the individual or the highest bidder? Or does he support the nation or are his friends and family riding shotgun in his decisionmaking? Who does he surround himself with and why? I believe critical thinking and not simply going with party bias, MAGA slogans, media buzz words, and social engineering, we can all come to some form of understanding about his intentions, his actions, and his results rather than basing everything on "character" and his lack of grace with words because the truth is we do not have to like him to make an informed determination about whether or not he can provide the right leadership for this country and set an example for the rest of the world.
