Pls support kīa’i for the @protectmaunakea movement. During this time, we are trying to unite both kānaka and Hawai’i born peoples alike to protect not only the mauna, but also our way of life and greatest natural resources in Hawaii as a whole. We feel that our movement has successfully united all aspects of Hawaiian culture with the exception of our traditional ocean practices - namely surfing, fishing, paddling, etc. This is where you come in. Pls be an inspiration and raise awareness amongst the general public and the corporate realm to promote the conservation of our ‘āina for our generation and future generations to come.

flattenedbrando @sarahparada I'd like to go to Hawaii for the first time ever. Just to meet the people. I have a friend from cali who is pro ocean environment. As he and I talked more it occurred to me that the environment meant so much to him because he was surrounded by such beauty. I'm thinking the mindset by your average Hawaiin is about the same. Example in my neighborhood they r putting in gas pipeline. They cut down about 15 beautiful trees. Now imagine I had a volcano in my back yard. Where father mother grandfather played fell in love took walks . A connection with the land sea and air. That's my feeling watching the ceremony . The volcano is home. Like the trees meant something to me. Or if a neighborhood lived by a lake. Perhaps the difference is Hawaiin s embrace the connection (land sea air )more than the average fellow. I dont know.

sarahparada @flattenedbrando 😍 yes the exotification of the Hawaiian wahine is a whole other conversation, you are digging in. Thank you. I believe Hawaiian woman are underrepresented in film and all media for the same reason people of color in general are underrepresented - because the folks in positions of power (the storytellers) are only telling the stories that reflect their own interests and experiences. We need more people of color, more women of color - to sit in influential places and tell their stories. And we need to seek out these stories and listen deeply, because they won’t sound familiar. It’s all an uphill battle, but very much worth fighting for. Thanks for joining in through seeking out information.

But it moves me how much support you are giving to your people, and the example of strength and nobility you are showing your children They are blessed by you, and I am praying this issue can be resolved peacefully and quickly. mooncat302 Greetings from New York State. I find it incredibly admirable that you are standing for your heritage, your beliefs, and quite frankly, what is plain old right. It is a memory that your children will remember for all their lives and tell their own descendents. In today's society too much has been lost. Mother Earth's cries are ignored as our planet is being destroyed. May all those that stand to protect Mauna Kea have strength, fortitude and heart. Blessings.

slcrew63 I am not Hawain born. However I do have Cherokee blood in my veins. Why in all the centuries have we not learned not to repeat history and take things that dont belong to us? Leave the people and the land in Hawaii ALONE!! Do not desecrate this land anymore. No repeat of history. For once respect mother earth, and the people who love her! Enough is enough.

People dont matter because we ruined everything we touched here and we will just die out on this planet. So all the things that dont matter to you, are pretty fucking important
