We need to get serious about the extinction crisis.
Join us in supporting @nrdc_org’s efforts to stop the rollback of the Endangered Species Act through the link in bio.

Yes, we absolutely need to take the 6th mass extinction seriously.
Insect populations are declining @ 2.5%/year. Many pollinators are insects, many facets of the food chain require pollination. Continued decline in population of insects will lead to further, perhaps critical, deterioration of our food chain (to speak nothing of the harm the rest of the biosphere will suffer).

Thank phytoplankton & the continued acidification of the ocean threatens them too.
Thought the Amazon rainforest was the major source of oxygen in the atmosphere? No, but even if it was, humans are clearing the Amazon for cattle & palm-oil.
Welcome to the Anthropocene! 🤙

Indeed. We need to believe in the power of humanity to solve the critical issues and we need to start solving them now. These organisms are our “canary in the coal mine” they are telling us things are unhealthy. We are seeing small organism cascades. And we want to talk about PARTY.
We have nearly unlimited power to solve problems as a race. Collaborative directional problem solving. That’s our future. And that’s the future we need now!
Believe!

The grizzly bear is an example of an endangered species being restored to healthy populations under the current Endangered Species Act. Grizzlies have been listed and delisted several times over the past 15 years. Currently they are listed. NPS has a good article on the grizzly bear comeback. Thanks @patagonia.

Just for context, under this act, farmers in Louisiana are not allowed to produce food in areas for fear that it might endanger a frog that has not been seen in Louisiana in 75 years. No one is actively going out and shooting Eagles, they just hope to revise it to help locals who live in those areas more

Dear Patagonia. It’s very disingenuous to suggest that grizzlies are threatened or endangered of going extinct. Social media has made it very easy to get away with this kind of misinformation. Shame on you and shame on the sheep that believe everything they hear.

Please explain to me, do any of you live even remotely near the Yellowstone ecosystem that are saying the bears are extinct 😂 due to the lack of intelligence of this post if any of you misguided individuals need a speckle of light shined upon you let me know😂
