[part 2] I also had the honor of listening to — and spending one on one time with — virtually all of the Democratic candidates at the #GunSenseForum. They all made brilliant points.
From @kamalaharris pointing out that Trump — who has been cited as a motivation for violent crime BY violent criminals 36 times in 2.5 years (for the record, both Bush and Obama were cited ZERO times in domestic terrorism attacks) and has been cited more times in attacks on our homeland in the last three years than any other person or organization on earth — may not have pulled the trigger but “he’s certainly been tweeting out the ammunition” to these domestic terrorists. To @pete.buttigieg rightly pointing out that we have already drawn a line when it comes to the right to bear arms. “Somewhere between a water balloon and a predator drone, we drew a line. The line needs to move.” He agrees, as most folks with his type of military background do, that weapons of war have no place on our streets. @kirstengillibrand, @elizabethwarren, @juliancastrotx, all made BRILLIANT points about the realities facing our communities across the country. As did @corybooker And @betoorourke, who couldn’t be there but still took the time to send in videos in support. Not one person from the GOP attended, or weighed in. Perhaps because they’ve been bought and paid for to the tune of $36.6 million (contributed to Trump alone) by the NRA. They may control the senate now, but WE HAVE THE POWER to VOTE THEM OUT and at least TRY harder for our kids and our communities. And try we must.
We do not have to live like this. We do not have to die like this.
Let’s clean it up already.
Thank you to the candidates for showing up and speaking truth to power. The Moms and Dads and survivors for showing up for those who can’t. To @mspeters14 for letting me share the stage with you and be a witness to your story. Thank you to my soul brother @kennyjamez, for hopping a flight with me and using your photo skills to capture the energy of a room full of people determined to make change. And to @everytown @momsdemand @studentsdemand for advocating so tirelessly and fearlessly for a better future for all. #EnoughIsEnough

I believe I saw in your stories how gender also plays a role on mass shootings (amongst white supremacy, accessibility to guns, etc.) To add on some more statistics, the Statistics Research Department found that “since 1982, an astonishing 110 mass shootings have been carried out in the United States by male shooters. In contrast, only three mass shootings (defined by the source as a single attack in a public place in which four or more victims were killed) have been carried out by women.” That being said, we clearly have a lot of work ahead of us (as you articulated in your post). Amongst demanding congress to create more reasonable gun control laws, voting out politicians that are bought out by the NRA, and advocating with parental/student groups, I believe we also need to dismantle toxic masculinity in our society. That goes for all violent crimes which unfortunately but not surprisingly are committees mainly by men.

This is a crisis. It is simply unfathomable that nothing is being done. If we were losing this many citizens a year to any other cause, we would fight it. (Yes, we fight to lower vehicle deaths.) I had to take my shoes off again yesterday AND empty the dry food snacks from my bag - pre-packaged granola bars! - for an extra trip through security. I lost a child. Not to gun violence, but to a disease that had scores of doctors, nurses, and supportive people fighting like hell to beat. It sucked, but it was no one’s fault and no one could’ve stopped it. And yet, everyone tried their asses off to do so. We can stop gun deaths, lots of them. Why we can’t fight this as a country as hard as we fight others things is just beyond me and so unbelievably unfair to the victims and their loved ones.

I feel as though the issues from the democratic party is very redundant. Heard Obama era. Without any results. Gun, control, tax on wealthy. What politician greased who’s pocket’s for votes. Both political parties are guilty of false fact’s, childish banter and immoral passings of law and judgement’s. Do what you will. Just don’t let someone hang the progressive carrot in front of your face to lead to down a path where you can’t tell the differences between progress and a broken record.

You on the computer, huddled in the back amongst the heavy equipment...so beautifully captured by @kennyjamez is just how I imagined you would be. Your celebrity is so well utilized — you’re in the trenches fighting so hard, making your voice heard, speaking for those who cannot. You are amazing @sophiabush and I am so honored to witness how hard you advocate. You have my full support. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

As I understand, it's not to the president that you must ask this, whoever is in charge, you must directly find something to bend the congress. If I remember well, Obama already tried this about weapons control but like the congress earn a lot of money from this, thay always refuse all measures to reduce weapons access. Congress should be your target.
