[part 1] On Saturday I had the honor of speaking at @everytown @momsdemand @studentsdemand #GunSenseForum in Des Moines, #Iowa.
I spoke as a concerned citizen, a gun owner, a hobbyist, and a woman whose family has been affected by a mass shooting. Make no mistake, I understand the issue from all sides. And the issue? This is a public health crisis. People are dying in the streets because our leaders are too cowardly to act. America has 122 guns for every 100 people. No other nation on Earth comes close. Next in line, at 40?? Yemen. A war zone.
The issue is not mental health. The issue is easy access to guns. Period. All of the data proves this, and we’d have even more if our government wasn’t REFUSING to allow the CDC to study gun violence. That should be a clue. They want to deny us overwhelming information because it’s a bad truth for them the lobbyists who control them.
Foreign countries are issuing warnings, urging their citizens not to travel here because it’s become too dangerous.
Walmart is taking imagery of guns off the shelves, and video games that are played by the rest of the world to no increase in shootings anywhere else, but they won’t stop selling guns. They had the nerve to place a sign over a glass case filled with rifles that reads “OWN THE SCHOOL YEAR LIKE A HERO.” What the fuck does that even mean? It would be laughable if it weren’t so damn sad.
A Fox News poll released today shows: - 90% of Americans support requiring criminal background checks on ALL gun buyers
- 81% support passing "red flag" laws that allow police to take guns from people shown to be a danger to themselves or others
- 67% banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons
Imagine how high the numbers go among a bi-partisan audience! A measure that would handle these issues has already passed the house, and is stalled because of #MoscowMitch McConnell. We all need to pressure him and other Senators to reconvene the Senate immediately and vote on these gun-control measures. Have the vote! Do what your constituents want! (Continued...)

The government encourages the armament of civilies and a portion of the population as well.73% is against . We also have the Maria da Penha law that protects womem victims of domestic violence. A victory. This law will be included to the extent that it entitles the law to seize firearms from domestic aggressors. The number of femicide is large. Drug trafficking has weapons of war. Brasilians also fight against the armament of civilians but the president fights in favor. It is unequal fight because. But we are Warriors and we don't give up figthing for peace and freedom to come and go. Forward 🌷

Fucking, guns wouldnt be bad if parents didn’t devorce all the god damn time and not raise their damn kid to be a responsible human being. That’s why school shootings happen. Thats life. Kids are traumatized by parents action and not teaching there kids that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows and all that gay shit. If someone wants to commit a shooting using a gun it don't matter what is in place as far as gun control. They will obtain a gun and they will kill using it. If people will start a challenge using tide pods or condoms then they might just be dangerous enough to obtain a weapon and kill someone. Legal or not they will get what they want. Yes it is sad but it's reality

Their is no easy access to guns. 90% of guns criminals owned were ILLEGALLY obtained. 95% of mass shootings occur in gun free zones. You have your "facts' misunderstood, and they're false. People are dying in our streets because they're DISARMED and DEFENCELESS. Shoot back! Thats we end all this! Criminals dont read signs!

Thank you for fearlessly and fiercely advocating for gun reform. You truly are someone whose actions match their words. As for Walmart, well I think someone moved a back to school sign to make them look bad but tbh they made themselves look bad when they pulled video games with guns rather than the guns themselves.

Yes access to guns is a little too easy but this is a huge mental health issue. It is also a racial hate issue that desperately needs to be addressed. When 87% have been severely bullied at one time this cannot be ignored as a mental health issue. Mentally stable ppl gun owner or not DO NOT open fire on others.
