CANCER UPDATE!

4 chemo down, 2 to go. Despite all the reasons chemo is a total pain in the ass, I’m enjoying the tri-weekly costume changes, time with friends, and perks of flying with a pre-board pass. The anti-climactic news is that Bob decided to stop shrinking after Chemo #1. He’s either one resilient f*cker or a stubborn blob of healthy lymph cells mixed with double biopsy scar tissue and nothing to freak out about. Either way, we’re hoping that these last few chemos (4-6) will knock him down.

If any cancer cells are still found in my tissue post October’s surgery, my best shot is continue on a new chemo drug Kadcyla through October 2020. The likelihood of this based on my current prognosis? About a 50/50 chance. Not gonna lie - the notion of potentially spending another full year in chemo had me sobbing in my pillow for the better part of last week. Then came a wave of research and reconciliation. I am slowly feeling more prepared for either outcome, and back to channeling my inner “chi” as best I can (encouraged by this kid’s star chart I ordered to track gold medal cancer patient behavior.) Now I’m determined to do everything I can to keep “CHEMO” off the calendar for 2020 so that I can make my way to Bali and finish writing the quintessential follow-up to the bestseller EAT, PRAY, LOVE called LIFE SUCKS SOMETIMES.
Love to you all for your kind words, healing and support. If I haven’t responded to you, I’m truly sorry. Sometimes looking at my phone makes me nauseous, instagram/facebook messages have been tricky to organize and slip through the cracks, and halfway through chemo I lost every text due to a faulty OS update (b/c, LIFE)… so I have no idea who I’ve missed connecting with and my do-do brain can’t keep up. I read everything though, and your heartfelt messages, stories of family and friends going through similar journeys...it’s gotten me through the bad days and meant THE WORLD to me. <3

angelnanashi I don’t remember what was the first video i watched with you in it. It might be one with chester (you where singing ans playing a crazy fan xD) i liked you immediatly ! Thing is you are sharing fun and joy. And today that fun may be more difficult you are still smiling. Be ok. Take care of yourself and we’ll hope for Bob’s end ! Keep smiling even Gwendal you aren’t on thé mood. Maybe smiling will change your mood (even for a second!) every second of joy is worth it ! (Don’t bother answering if it’s hurting you ;) )

curry5150 You're awesome, keep fighting. My fingers are crossed that you can wipe out chemo for 2020. Hopefully we can be in the same club. Chemo is the just about the worst, my experience with has been brutal. Stay strong, keep fighting. #nobobs2020
