As an organization dedicated to the fight to #EndExtinction, we must provide a voice for wildlife in need. At the end of last year, we added our voice to many other conservationists expressing concerns about these proposed changes, and we feel compelled to do so again in light of the current situation: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • Our mission is to save species from extinction. We are concerned that the changes to the ESA will make it more difficult for us to protect species across the world for future generations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • Here in San Diego we have a rich diversity of unique species, many of whom continue to find refuge in our county. The proposed regulatory changes will reduce many of the protections that these species currently have, reducing the ability of wildlife officials to protect their homes and provide for long-term recovery. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ • Our experts testified last week to request that the San Bernardino kangaroo rat be listed as a candidate for state protection. These protections are necessary because the last populations of the species are threatened with imminent habitat loss.
