Growing up on the land I’ve always had a soft spot for farmers. Rick is a fifth generation farmer out in New South Wales. Khanye trains rural farmers in Zimbabwe to help improve their yields. Both of them are deeply concerned about climate change.
“Rick and Khanye (and all of us) are faced with the reality that we have governments and big business who, conveniently for them, usually leave the fate of family farmers and the world's poor out of the debate. Here in Australia we are faced with retreat from action on the climate crisis and a clear commitment from our government to expand the fossil fuel industry. How can we possibly try to prevent catastrophic climate change while opening new coal mines? What does this mean for people like Rick and Khanye who are already carrying the burden of our reliance on extractive fossil fuels? And what can we do about it?”

I might be a bit late on this. I am a 17 year old from south Africa and we are seeing the biggest drought ever due to some man that wants to line his pockets with money.But you can olso make millions by selling clean electricity. Deforestation, rhino poaching, fossil fuel the list goes on it things that doesn't just effect our generation but future generations. Why spend billions on going to mars when we have a perfect plannet it just needs a bit of care and love. @davidpocock you are my hero, i want to say thanks for spreading to word of climate change

We in Canada have the Alberta tar sands that produce the dirtiest oil in the world. To make matters worse, it has to be fracked to get it out. Our reliance on fossil fulesvis horrible and our commitment to greener sources is just lip service. We need more people to get committed to the cause but make it about financial viability so the business world can see it makes sense. Sun and wind are the only way forward.

Interesting shifts in the Riverina the last 12 months specifically - conventional farming investing in swift movement to practices promoting carbon sequestration/ increase soil carbon . Even the big boys are acknowledging the effects.
