Not gonna lie... I was pretty terrified. But after spending time getting up close and personal with these insanely cool animals, I feel a lot better. I also learned a ton about shark safety and the horrible mistreatment of these creatures around the world. According to the Marine Policy Journal, more than 100 million sharks are killed every year by humans. On the other hand, last year, of the 66 unprovoked shark attacks, only 4 were fatal.
Stupid ass movies like 47 Meters Down and Jaws create awful stereotypes about these peaceful animals. The chances you’ll get attacked by a shark are 1.625 in a million. You’re literally more likely to get hit by an asteroid than get attacked by a shark. You’re also more likely to get struck by lightening, die in a car accident on the way to the beach, have a stroke, or drown. Just sayin. Look it up.

What people don’t see is by feeding sharks you are making the sharks associate people with food. What happens to that diver that doesn’t have food? Will their hand be mistaken for food? Did you notice how long it took for a shark to find your boat before you even got in the water. Anybody that goes offshore in Jupiter, Fl can attest that as soon as their boat stops there is at least 1-2 sharks immediately circling the boat. It’s not a coincidence. Sharks are a real problem. People that dive and feed sharks are making it worse. Yeah it’s cool to dive with sharks and show people they aren’t as dangerous. Without you even knowing you are making the sharks more dangerous than they were before by making them associate humans with food. All it takes is one of the divers to get attacked and everyone’s perspective will change just like that. What about the accident that just happened in the Bahamas of the girl on the diver boat. More of the occasions will rise because feeding sharks is a problem. I hope people read this and look at this problem.
