A social media darling, #HorseshoeBend has become one of the most recognized and visited places at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in #Arizona. Below the red rock rim, the Colorado River makes a wide sweep around a sandstone escarpment, created a roughly 1,000-feet deep, 270º horseshoe-shaped bend in #GlenCanyon. It’s a breathtaking view and a glimpse into the area’s geologic past. Photo @glencanyonnps courtesy of Josh Packer (@packtography). #travel #FindYourPark #usinterior

@usinterior one of the most photographed spots and also one least developed. Steep sand hill to unprotected cliffsides, crowds of tourists. One one hand I loved that its undisturbed, on the other I feel like it's someones disaster waiting to happen.

@usinterior There's a movement to stop hash tagging places like this, because they're getting destroyed by Instagram. Within a 100 mile radius of that photo are several formerly wild places suffering damage from the power of the hashtag.

Why would you further promote a spot that is already being destroyed with social media fame? I’d love to see this account promote some less visited gems overseen by the DOI. This place doesn’t need any more attention.

It was a magic and wild place. Now they made a huge car parking, and they’re making a second one this year, full of tourist and you’ve to pay to go there. It’s a big shame

Stop propagating overly photoshopped pics @usinterior of major landmarks. It only draws more in for the insta photo. It doesn’t look like this and never will.
