According to some of America’s top business leaders, shareholder value is no longer their sole priority.
Nearly 200 CEOs in the Business Roundtable, a group of chief executives from major U.S. companies, are dropping the age-old notion that corporations mainly function to serve shareholders and maximize profits.
Those executives include major players like J.P. Morgan’s Jamie Dimon, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook.
Investing in employees, delivering value to customers, dealing ethically with suppliers and supporting outside communities are now at the forefront of American business goals, they say.

Duh. If the company does well the stock rises with it. That means a mission statement with complimentary philosophy, and structured intelligently. All this stock nonsense is due to the corruption of government, in bed with corporations with the sole intent on their own pockets. Politicians give political favors to corporations, and in return they both get rich usually destroying businesses. That's why gov always steps in with a handout. They all belong in jail, yet, they are running things.

Shareholder value is sustainable if stakeholder interests are looked after in every business strategy. Short term share value objectives with willful blindness to stakeholders interest is the quickest way to go out of business.

I’ve got plenty of admiration of many of the CEOs here especially Jamie Dimon but if this was really true then they would be competed away by someone who is maximizing shareholder value

Rubbish. Time for derivative suits to fly & corporate governance activists to introduce proxy resolutions to boot the board of directors first then the CEOs. It’s my money, GTFO! 🙄
