@katjasaana 47% of jobs are likely to be automated away in the next 20 years. There are literally no drawbacks to jumping the gun on UBI, and there are so many if we allow millions to lose their jobs and get nothing. Not to mention that a lot of these jobs will literally be gone within the next 3-5 years, what do you see when you go to Walmart, McDonald's, what do you get half the time you call customer service now? Self-checkouts, touch screens, and AI. This is literally right around the corner and you'd rather leave them behind until the 2030s than help them now. Think about that.

@rappinggavin Listen, kid. I went to college and got a math degree. Your knowledge of this issue is laughably sophomoric by comparison to mine, and you are clearly suffering the Dunning-Kruger effect of false confidence based on ignorance. If you bothered to read my comments, you would address the points I raised, especially the part where I said Yang's plan IS NOT A UBI. Also, no $1k/mo is waaaaay below the poverty line, so the poor would STILL need other services to live.

@darikane_ no it's worse because they hide behind the veil of being progressive but all forms of socialism end up at the same destination. And I know old Bernie Sanders is different he is going to break the mold and do it differently from every one else in history. That may be true and honestly I am not that worried about crazy Bernie mostly because I know he doesn't believe what he is saying but I worry about who he is laying the groundwork for.

@jschadewald1 UBI is better than welfare and here's why. 1. It is unconditional and given to every American even if you move up economically. 2. The freedom dividend can and will grow over the years as we gain more money from the VAT. Meaning that benefits would grow over time and eventually those at the bottom would be getting way more than if we kept welfare.

We already have jobs/careers! Our feet are already planted! And we certainly don’t need these Socialists changing the way we live and work in America! Destroying industries is destroying workers and families! Americans decide where we work, when we work and what we work at! Bernie thinks he makes those decisions!

@jschadewald1 Also it is universal because anyone can get it. Also if you live with more than one adult they would have ubi as well. Also considering that it depends on the size of your family and I believe for a single person that would be slightly below the poverty line on average
