This year, once again, I went to catch small creatures with nets in the river with my kids—it’s called “gasa gasa” in Kyoto/Shiga region—a few days ago, just before the Obon holidays ended. Afterwards, the adults (my two assistants @goro_i @yanotakaya and myself) brought my kids home and set off anew to go catch some turtles and soft-shell turtles at night. We aimed for the spot that Mr. Hanzawa, @seiyahanzawa who used to help us with the activity until last year, had told us. We caught a few and it was quite satisfactory. I would like to get more serious next year.
今年もお盆明けの数日前、京都、滋賀地方の川で、ガサガサと言って、網で小動物を捕獲する遊びを子供達とやり、保護者達、つまり僕と2人のアシスタント @goro_i @yanotakaya は、子供達を家に送った後、夕方、夜に、亀、スッポンを捕獲に行ってきました。
ポイントは去年までサポートしてくれてた、半澤さん @seiyahanzawa に教わった場所。数体が捕獲でき、大変満足しました。来年はもっと本格的にやってみたいと思ってます。

jeffkratzart I wish my country would follow Japan’s lead to enjoy the small things. I lived there for 7 years and loved the enthusiasm for little adventures.
