Worst case is, they’d feel as if they’re a burden, leading them to the question, “Why would they want me in the first place anyway?” . I’ve known some people in my life whose reasons to have kids sound a bit ‘off’ to me, such as: - to please my husband / wife / parents / in laws / etc. - so there will be someone who can look after me / my business when I’m older - because all of my friends are having kids . They‘re a bit off to me because from the children’s perspective, they sound ignorant and insincere - no romanticism whatsoever. I admit some of these people are seniors, so maybe it’s because during their time, those reasons are perfectly logical (they are), so they just go with it. . But regardless of those reasonings, these people turned out to be fierce, loving parents who’d do anything for their kids. I guess the term “motherhood / fatherhood becomes you” resonates well with most parents after all.
