Hopefully opening the door for more Tongan kids to take up such a beautiful sport, kayaking. I adjusted for the wind and was determined not to make the same mistake as yesterday, drifting out of the start blocks. We were talking to each other throughout the whole race. Left... right...core ... stable...calm... Our time didn’t win any places but we had a goal and we stuck to it. We knew we hadn’t even grazed the surface of our power or our potential speed, it will come. Our goal was to finish the race and put something on the board. We stayed calm and maintained balance. 6 days ago we were paddling with just our hands in the water and no paddles allowed, a drill saved for kids beginning the sport.
