“The wheels for a slowdown are in motion.”
The downtrend in some global economies is becoming contagious, according to Morgan Stanley. And the “high” risk of tight financial conditions could trigger a global recession, one expert said.
The firm highlighted the “significant loss of momentum” in payrolls data in the past seven moths and recent concerning manufacturing barometers as part of its reasoning.
And things could get worse if trade headwinds don’t subside: corporate investments and other labor market metrics could see even further downside, the firm said.

There is risk of recession, but the risk is overblown. It will only increase to high levels if trade war worsens. Right now, it’s still not a definite recession, but we are already slowing down. Instead of panicking and selling off everything, prepare by rebalancing portfolio to be more defensive.
