We received a message yesterday afternoon from a good Samaritan about these eight (8) newborn puppies. She had found them dumped in a bucket without their Mother and the bucket was left in the blazing sun. It was 97’ in PR yesterday. We responded immediately as did our friend Chesley, the Founder of @soulsofsatos Chesley was able to pick up the puppies and took them home to bottle feed. We reached out to her and offered to help. Keeping eight (8) newborn puppies alive without their mother is a herculean task. And an unbelievably heartbreaking one. The prognosis is never hopeful or good. We currently have a relatively new Mummy in our program, Indy - that we have not even had chance to post about because of Mission Possible X. We knew this would be their best chance. If we can get a Mama with milk to accept them then their odds improve. Souls of Satos are rescuing at an unprecedented rate. Just like we are. And every other rescuer in PR. It’s overwhelming and can destroy you. It feels like you are drowning and you are screaming at the top of your voice for help. But no-one hears and there is no life preserver in sight. Chelsey kept the puppies warm by filling plastic bottles with hot water and set about the Sisyphean mission of trying to get enough formula inside each of them using tiny (doll size) feeding bottles. As the night wore on we worked on a plan. There is a reason I never switch off my phone and this is it. At 5am this morning we also had a back-up Mummy in case Indy rejects the puppies. Chelsey was an absolute hero and kept those babies fed and warm all night. We met literally an hour ago for the hand-off and those puppies are now speeding down to Yabucoa with their new #Nani, Daphne. We all need to say a prayer that one of our Mam」8月25日 6時20分
