His seeds weren’t the Bradfords, at least I don’t reckon so, they were some other type I never see these days. They were solid green like a Bradford but his were round. I’ll never forget him teaching me to never pickup a watermelon before rolling it over with my foot to check for black widow spiders.⁣ ⁣ I can feel the sadness of knowing my kin won’t have continuity with this place anymore. I’m the end, the path turned another direction. I feel that deeply because my Great Great Grandfather is buried in a family cemetery here. WW2 and building Camp Lejeune took the last large slice of my families old land, a “donation” my Grandfather spoke of fondly knowing our part in helping, and now finally an expanding Hwy 17 took the rest. ⁣ ⁣ But it doesn’t feel like a loss, a sadness yes, but not a loss.
