Last night Classic FM listeners heard music performed in Buckingham Palace, by musicians who are being supported by the charity Future Talent
Co-founded by Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent and Nicholas Robinson (📷 2), the charity provides children with an equal opportunity to excel in music, along with supporting gifted musicians on their Young Musician’s Development Programme.
During the concert, presenter and musician Alexander Armstrong (📷 3), an ambassador of Future Talent, met the young people at the Palace.
The Duchess of Kent helped set up Future Talent after previously working in a primary school. HRH wanted to help talented young musicians to fulfil their musical potential.
“For thirteen years I taught music in a primary school in East Hull. I saw the power of music in every aspect of their lives and as an extraordinary stimulant for growth,” HRH said. “Our vision has been to support talented young musicians from every corner of the country and in every genre of music. The benefits for these children are inestimable. We hope to break barriers down, enhance opportunities and make a career in music an equal reality for all, as well as to capture the power of music as a force for change that can improve young people’s lives.”
