I always recognise and appreciate that I can be the person I want to be and do what I love which is being a professional athlete; with that comes many different highs from winning, breaking records, inspiring people to the best version of themselves and simply sharing my journey with the people who want to learn and listen to my story. However I have experienced the lows from chasing something that many people thought was impossible, going 57 seconds for a 100m race and then breaking that and pushing my mental and physical limits by going 56. Through this I have eaten myself away at some points and became a person I didn’t love and was so worried about what people thought of me, for me that was too toxic to be the best person/athlete I could be so I created my own coping mechanisms and “checked myself” ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ For the first half the year I set out to really challenge myself and who I wanted to be. So many people have an opinion on you when you are at the top of your game and sometimes that can be negative or positive. Whatever it was, I used it as a fuel to become better and not be consumed by it as I knew deep down who I am and the people close to me do too, never let someone get you down with their opinion as people are so quick to judge without evening spending 5 minutes with you. So I let go of that thought and found my freedom through meditation, self awareness and a few tricks/coping mechanisms which really helped me reduce anxiety, increase my confidence and overall become a much more fulfilled and happy person. I will always advise people to just take 10 minutes of your day to have time to yourself so you can reflect, whether that’s music, walking, meditation etc... ▪️ ▪️ ▪️ I LOVE what I do and hopefully inspiring as many people as I can along the way, hence why I’m writing this post; I don’t believe in being a world class athlete and not using it for good and sharing the lessons of life through my eyes but big love to everyone for reading this and here’s to the next season 🙌🏼」9月4日 4時26分 - adam_peaty
