It was the best, wisest, most loving talk back I've ever been to. When asked what it's like to do a long-run of a monologue (each of the guys carries one act alone in monologue form), Mr Sturridge said, 'these words are an almost unmineable gift- but it's not just the words: it's the audience too. When connecting with a new partner, the scene is very different.' And Mr Gyllenhaal gave the best acting advice as he described their process with getting past 'acting' to their own personal, in the moment truth every night: 'stop describing the butterfly & just say butterfly.' The lady who asked the second to last question followed it up by saying how much it meant to her to see such a profound meditation on love & loss on 9/11; that it had helped what is always a very hard day for her to be with people loving & losing & trying so hard to figure out what comes next.
