This photo of the bulletin board from my RISD freshman dorm room shows a collection of stuff I was into, from punk show flyers to my friend’s skate zine. If you look at Obey and the influences I’ve had, the bulletin board encapsulates a lot of the different influences that are still with me now. The DIY ethos of punk rock and the creativity of skateboarding, and the rebellious nature of both have completely informed everything I’ve done. At the time, the bulletin board was just a random collection of stuff that was accumulating organically, but since then I’ve made knockoff variations of almost all the imagery within it. It just shows that either I’m really boring or I had it planned out right from the start. - Shepard
