Here’s the bit I need to say - I don’t get to see myself, in my physical entirety, the way my sisters or my husband get to. None of us do. We only get to see ourselves, in our entirety, through a mirror... a photo.... a lens. We don’t see the silly little hunkered-over shape our body makes when we’re putting on a sock, or that purse-lipped focus-face we make when focused on a task, completely unaware of what level of attraction our body or face holds if someone were to look at us at the moment. We don’t get to see ourselves.... our innocence, endearing traits.... what really makes us quirky, and beautiful. To me, I found a perfect little spot I could squeeze into, drink my coffee, and look at the bridges, harbour, and buildings in the Sydney skyline (spilled mah coffee on the way up though). To him, he saw The innocence of my personality - that this was something I would’ve done at age 5, 11, 16, or 25... Wedge my way into a small space...with snacks.... always with snacks. The strange bit to me is, Ive fallen in love with this photo because it’s me when I don’t know anyone is watchin’. It’s the little Maki that I’ve always known, but never gotten to see.
