This image, as well as the wing image, was created through focus stacking — the first required 3 photos, this one somewhere around 10 or 15. It’s a technique that I’m still learning, but I love playing with it and going through the process of taking the photos and putting the puzzle pieces together to make the final image. I feel like a beginner every single day, and I’m constantly making mistakes and messing up just about everything possible (so much that I’ve considered making an “Amateur Hour with Angie” list to document all the mistakes I’ve made). And still, it makes me feel that childish excitement and it gets me out of bed at stupid hours and makes me laugh and smile and wonder “how in the world is nature so damn cool?”.
