The idea for Destiny Beach had been floating around in my head for a while. I wanted to write a Flex-centric issue for this run with Jeremy, and I love the way Jeremy writes Flex. Jeremy and I recorded a podcast (Comic Book Commentary with Ben Blacker, link in bio) for this one, with us going through the issue page by page, called. Nick Derington (our cover artist) and I had been talking about doing a Doom-focused podcast episode or two where we walk through the books on our runs and our process for a while, so it was good to get in there and finally do something like that. Hope you enjoy this one if you’re checking it out. Nick Pitarra handled the line art for this one, and it’s obvious he was born to draw Flex. Tamra Bonvillain handled the colors on this one, as she has for most of the run on DP, and as always I’m in love with what she did. Simon Bowland handled the lettering, and it’s great. Jeremy and I approach the scripts for this run as very stream-of-consciousness style writing, and we sit in the same office working on a live document, going back and forth. It’s been fun. Oh and of course, last but not least, a beautiful Nick Derington cover with lots of crazy text.
