In 1988 Sting and I visited the Amazon rainforest in Brazil for the first time, a trip which inspired us to begin our Rainforest Fund organisation in order to help the indigenous peoples who've lived there for thousands of years to protect their land and their forests. Over the past 30 years this work has spread to 23 countries over 3 continents. But the need for action to protect the rainforests and their indigenous people has never been more urgent. Keeping existing forests and planting new ones is one of the most efficient ways to tackle the climate crisis. Nature has already provided us with the best solution - tropical forests store carbon.
